I love the female sleuths in cozy mysteries.  My first favorite female sleuth goes all the way back to Harriet M. Welsch from Harriet the Spy, which I read decades before they made it into a movie!  That book changed me because after that I started keeping a little notebook with observations about the world – training myself to be a writer without knowing it. I asked my readers who their favorites were and got such a great list.  There are so many wonderfully curious, smart, funny female sleuths out there. Here are a few of their favorites. I have to admit – I didn’t know them all. So I’m thankful for the reading suggestions. I linked to some of the books that were new to me!

  • Joanne Brady (Female Sheriff)
  • Miss Marple of Agatha Christie books
  • Stephanie Plum
  • Laurie King’s Mary Russell
  • Nancy Drew
  • Cherry Ames
  • Nuala Anne McGrail in Andrew Greeleys Irish series
  • Hetta Coffey by Jinx Schultz ,
  • Southern Sisters, Anne George author,
  • Molly Murphy by Rhys Bowen,
  • Bailey Ruth by Carolyn G. Hart,
  • Maggie Newberry by Susan Kiernan Lewis,
  • Savannah Martin by Jenny Bennett,
  • Maisie Dobbs by Jasqueline Winspear,
  • Mrs. Jeffries by Emily Brightwell.
  • Clare Cosi
  • Kinsey Milhone

Welcome Cozy Mystery Readers

Hello and thanks for visiting! I am a cozy mystery author who is finally living my dream of being able to write what I love, thanks to you – my loyal readers. I currently live in Texas for part of the year and spend the rest of the year traveling and writing. I fell in love with mystery books when I first started reading Agatha Christie eons ago. It only took me a few decades to gather the courage to try my hand at writing them.
